Rouge Velvet The Lipstick Bourjois Anverelle Review Header

I’m absolutely a lipstick kinda girl. If there’s one thing I will swoon (and buy) over and over again, it’s a good lipstick. It frames my lips and gives some extra colour to my face! Just by switching up our lipstick you can totally transform your look from day to night.

Today I’ll be talking about a new range that’s been available since half October: Bourjois has added another twist in the Rouge Velvet collection. It’s called the Rouge Velvet The Lipstick, a range of 12 matte and gorgeous shades that claim to stay on for 24 hours! I’ve received 6 shades to review for you and I think they’re perfect for the fall weather. Let’s take a look!

This Rouge Velvet Lipstick product review includes products that are sent to me by a brand or company. Although this post is sponsored, all opinions are honest and are all my own. Please read my disclaimer.

Rouge Velvet: creamy and comfy

Matte lipsticks are a difficult business: they look great and sophisticated, but they have a tendency to dry out your lips – resulting in a “heavy” feeling. When you try reapplying them it becomes difficult to achieve the same clean result like in the morning when you put on your lipstick.

The Rouge Velvet Lipstick also has a matte finish, but it has a hybride formula that combines hydration with extreme pigmentation. The lipsticks feel very lightweight, are super creamy on application and are very comfortable when wearing them. Once they dry down completely, they leave no trace behind on your glass! I’ve tested them with eating and drinking and honestly they can survive a meal quite well! If the food was a bit oily you might want to reapply a little bit in the middle and that’s it! It might not be 24h, but I’m really satisfied on how well they stay on.

All six shades from light to dark – € 14,19

has always been best buddies with lipstick. If you want a neat and fresh result, it’s a necessity. With The Rouge Velvet Lipstick you don’t have to use one – the rounded, pointy end is perfect for shaping your Cupid’s bow and filling in your lips. Plus, with a single swipe you already have a lot of pigmentation going on.

Let’s look at some single swipe swatches!

Single swipe swatches from the Rouge Velvet The Lipstick – excuse the wobbly 07 & 12, my veins were a bit in the way, lol!

Rouge Velvet Lipstick 02 Flaming rose:

02 Flaming Rose is a rose nude that simply flatters your lips. It’s a perfect pop of colour for everyday wear – it’s sweet and simple!

Rouge Velvet Lipstick 05 Brique-à-brac:

05 Brique-à-Brac is the ultimate staple colour for me. When I’m wearing lipstick, it’s usually a bright red or a brown rose pink like Brique-à-Brac!

Rouge Velvet Lipstick 04 Hip Pink:

You’ve got to have a bright pink like 04 Hip Pink in your lipstick wardrobe! This happy colour reminds me of flamingos :D It’s perfect for giving your make-up look a little bit more oomph.

Rouge Velvet Lipstick 09 Fuchsia Botté:

This lipstick makes my eyes pop so much! It’s one of my favorite colours from the Rouge Velvet The Lipstick. And thanks to the blue undertone of 09 Fuchsia Botté, this fuchsia colour makes your teeth appear whiter. Winner!

Rouge Velvet Lipstick 12 Brunette:

The dark brown red from 12 Brunette is thé perfect shade for fall and transitioning to darker colours. Because it’s darker than the rest it’s a bit trickier to apply – but maybe also because I’d already applied and removed the 4 other shades while taking the pictures. On soft lips the result will be impeccable, but you can always use a lip scrub just to be sure :)

Rouge Velvet Lipstick 07 Joli Carmin’ois:

Since I’m not shy on using a bright colour on my lips, this vivid orange red is right up my alley. This is also one of my favourites of the Rouge Velvet The Lipstick. It’s red with a twist – and definitely a showstopper!

All the Rouge Velvet The Lipstick’s are available for € 14,19 – there are 12 shades in total.

What is your favorite colour from the Rouge Velvet The Lipstick collection? Do you like wearing matte lipstick?

hi, im seeing a lot of product reviews of yours similar to mine so would love to connect. Also like the lipstick review you did here. I once thought of getting the Joli color but got cold feet, thought it wouldn’t suit my complexion. But I love their peach tatin, on which i did a review in case you would like to see. and thanks for sharing yours too. x

Hi Isa, thank you so much for your comment! Hehe, the Joli is a pretty “out there” lipstick, I can understand the cold feet ;) The Peach Tatin is gorgeous!

Hi. Yes Flaming Rose and Fuchsia Botte look lovely. I have eyes very similar to your colour. What eye makeup do you have on and what do you use for everyday eye makeup? Thank you.

Hi Pamela! Thank you for your comment, I think all the lipstick shades look so lovely – I can hardly choose favourites! ;-)

In this post I’m only wearing mascara and if I’m not mistaken it’s either Charlotte Tilbury’s Legendary Lashes or Maybelline’s Total Temptation mascara. To be honest on a regular day I don’t wear eyeshadow a lot; usually it’s just a quick cream eyeshadow or just a nude colour on my eyelids and a shaping shade in my crease; nothing fancy! :-) I love Urban Decay and NYX eye shadows!
