My Desenio Picks

Moving in with your boyfriend is always an exciting time. However, moving in with someone means you usually enter a home that is already fully decorated and in the beginning nothing in there is “yours” or “ours”. Enter Desenio: they offered me to try out their posters as a collaboration and it couldn’t have come at a better time! Time to make a home out of a house (or apartment) ;-) !

There was a 30% off promotion going on at the time of my order, so we had the chance to get a little extra with our voucher. We picked 9 favourites from over 5,000 posters. Talk about an extensive range! If you’re too curious to read on, you can find my personal Desenio picks on their website.

It was fun to handpick some posters that feel like “us” and I can’t wait to (re)style them once we move into something bigger as well :-) Without further ado, here are the posters and their stories behind them. Enjoy!

In total we chose 9 posters: two sets and three standalones. Each combination has their own story and I would love to tell you more about why we selected these specific posters:

Beige Aesthetics

From left to right: Pampas Grass Silhouette | Bloom With Grace | Folding Fan (30×40 cm)

“Do it for the aesthetic”, lol ;-) This was the first set to be completed. We both love pampas and would like to have a few of them on the terrace. However, they prove to be quite expensive and it takes a long time before they grow to the tall size you usually see them… So we decided to start with just a wall deco ;-) The Bloom With Grace quote is one of my favourites, it’s so simple and yet very telling. The fan is a vague nod to my boyfriend’s love for all things Japanese. Throughout our apartment you can find several fans and souvenirs he brought back from his trips to Japan. Lastly, we both really appreciate the colours in this combination and we think beige will last a few years as a classy interior colour.

Moon Chaser

From left to right: One Day at a Time | Moon Phase | Black and White Astronaut (30×40 cm)

This combination is 100% me! I’m obsessed with the moon and I think space is very intimidating yet wonderfully mysterious. Working as a flight attendant for 3 years gave me some time in the clouds and up in the air, but astronauts go just that little bit higher ;-) The One Day At a Time quote looks a bit random, but I like to think of it as a nod to taking it easy – we’re just tiny ants in a gigantic universe so just take it one day at a time :-) These black and white posters give off a chique vibe that will go well in a hallway or a nice corner in the living room.

My Boyfriend’s Picks

My Desenio Picks My Boyfriends Picks

From left to right: Flying Cranes (30×40 cm) | Forest (70×100 cm)

We decided on all the posters together, but I wanted to gift my boyfriend something that he handpicked all by himself as well. My man has a passion for trekking so it didn’t take him long to go for a nature landscape! Despite it’s a big sized poster, it’s not an in-your-face piece and this one will probably stay above our bed. It’s a calm print and adds some lovely colour on the walls. The same goes for the Flying Cranes, inspired by his aforementioned passion for Japan. While it’s definitely a more popping colour than the moody green woods, it will look equally stunning on a dark or light wall. Plus, green and red/pink always looks good together as they are complimentary colours!

Upside Down Cheers

Lastly I picked out a poster that would not make it into our home, but at my very own salon. I’m self-employed and own a lasersalon where you can get your unwanted hair permanently removed with a laser. The playful legs up in the air are perfect to display in the waiting room. Before I had a Monstera poster which hung there for 2 years now, so it’s time for a change! :-)
