I am a sheet mask virgin. There, I said it! I’ve done plenty of other masks, but I’ve never tried sheet masks before. So when I got the opportunity to try out a new one by Kruidvat (Thanks Oona!), I was excited and a bit scared as well. What’s the feeling of a sheet mask on your face? Will it be better than a normal mask? Will it even stay on my face? I decided to put it to the test!
Energizing Boost Sheet Mask Review
First a bit of info on what this sheet mask is all about. It promises “a quick fix for tired skin and an energy boost for a fresh and radiant face.” Well, isn’t that exactly what we need after that tiresome winter we had? Although the weather isn’t in full Spring mode yet, it would be a good idea to freshen up my face. After all, I take my spring cleaning very serious! ;-)
There are three key ingredients in this energizing sheet mask: avocado oil, aloe vera and cupuacu butter. All of them ingredients well-known for their calming and softening traits, but I had never heard of the last one. I did a little digging and it appears the cupuacu butter is very moisturising and nourishing and sometimes you can even find it in white chocolate! If it’s good enough for chocolate, it’s good enough for me! I have a sensitive skin with an oily T-zone and dry cheeks, so I’m curious to see if it will balance out my face.
Tadaa! This is how the mask looks when you open it up. My first reactions? The sheet mask smells very fresh and feels very saturated with the skin-loving ingredients. The mask was also a bit too big on me, as you can see in the picture below:
On my forehead it fitted perfectly, but the lower part of my face shape did not agree with the size of this mask. Of course this is just how my face is shaped as I do have a pointy chin. Smoothing out the mask and folding some bits did the trick!
I put the mask on and set a timer for 8-10 minutes. While I was waiting, I snapped some silly pictures with the new snapchat filters (how cute is this flower crown?!) For the ultimate pamper session, just get out your favourite book or Netflix away.
After 10 minutes I removed the mask and massaged the leftover gel into my face. It dried up fairly quickly, so perfect for mornings where your face needs a wake up call but you don’t have all the time in the world (or snoozed a bit too much). The aloe vera will make your skin feel a bit sticky afterwards, but I promise that after it dries you’re left with smooth skin.
General impression of the Energizing Boost Sheet Mask
This sheet mask feels very refreshing, which makes it a quick morning pamper session. I had the feeling that the Aloe Vera was the most prominent in this product, in regards to smell and feel. I have an Aloe Vera moisturiser in my cabinet and it feels quite the same. I don’t like the stickiness of the Aloe Vera, but that’s really a personal thing. This mask left my sensitive skin hydrated, non-irritated and soft, so it ticks all my boxes!
The Energizing Boost sheet mask is available at Kruidvat for € 0,89.
