By now, you know I’m a fan of oil-based cleansers, especially if they can also be used on the eyes. I think a cleansing oil is so easy to use and requires little effort. A very good thing if I’m super sleepy after a flight and I actually just want to roll in my bed asap! I make a big deal out of my skincare and cleansing because it’s the first and most important step to clear skin.
Bestseller in Japan: Deep Cleansing Oil
It appears to be skincare season! ;) I was approached by DHC to test and review their bestseller: the Deep Cleansing Oil. DHC is the number one skincare brand in Japan and their products are completely manufactured there as well. Their products must pass every skin test there is before launching, which probably makes it so popular: it’s safe for all skin types!
It’s not only a bestseller in Japan, it also has the cutest backstory. In the seventies, the founder of DHC stayed in a Spanish village where he met a farmer. They became friends and the farmer couldn’t stop praising his olives for the great things it did with his skin. You can probably guess the result: the olive oil from DHC’s Deep Cleansing Oil still comes from the same orchard! :-)
My experience with the Deep Cleansing Oil
You apply the cleansing oil with dry hands on your dry face. Massage the oil in your face for 30 to 40 seconds and end with the eyes and lips. I promise it will get rid of all your make-up! The texture is very velvet-like; especially if you’re not used to an oil-based cleanser this is going to feel like a real treat. The biggest ingredients are pure olive oil, essential rosemary oil and vitamine E that just scream: #treatyoself! ;-) Despite the rosemary oil I find that the scent is quite neutral.
You will only need 2 to 3 pumps to remove make-up, and the result is a nurtured, soft and calm skin. Something important to mention is that it leaves no greasy residue so it’s perfect to use for combination/greasy skin types.
The Deep Cleansing Oil comes in two versions; a 70 ml and a 200 ml one. The smaller bottle is perfect to take with you on a vacation while you can leave the bigger version at home. DHC Deep Cleansing Oil is exclusively available at ICI Paris XL.
