2019 is so so close, guys! What are you wearing tomorrow? To be honest, I’m still not so sure… Lol. I guess I’ll still have to go find a dress. But what I don’t have to look for anymore, is my New Year’s Eve palette ;-) Maybelline has a special holiday palette to end 2018 with. Let’s take a look, shall we?
This Maybelline review includes products that were sent to me by a brand or company. Although this post is sponsored, all opinions are honest and are all my own. Please read my disclaimer.
The Countdown Look
The Countdown Palette
Here it is – the star of this review and beauty look: The Countdown palette! Maybelline worked out a special treat for the holidays that I would happily wear for New Year’s Eve. The palette is perfect for those who love to combine warm shades together. In total, you get 12 warm shades to play with, ranging from matte to shimmer. So whether you’d want to go for a matte of sparkly finish (or a little bit of both) the Countdown palette has got your back!
The colours are also highly pigmented. It’s the first time I try out and review a palette by Maybelline and I’m pleasantly surprised! I had no idea these were so pigmented; so I will definitely try more eyeshadows now :-)
On the back of the palette you can find three looks that you can try out. Or, you could just play with the palette and make your own combinations!
For my own look, I’ve used Stroke of Midnight (right upper corner) in my crease and my under eye, Resolutions and Glass Clink on my tear duct, Bubbly Rosé on my eyelid and some Tick Tock on the outer edges of my eye. The colours all blend really well together. Click this link to see the back of the palette with the names.
I had spotted this new mascara immediately when it launched in America, and now it’s here in Europe! *Squeek*
The ads looked very promising, so I was very excited to find out SNAPSCARA was in the goodie bag of my last blogger event of 2018. Talk about luck ;-)
The mascara has a curved and tapered brush, so you can get really close with the product from root to tip. It leaves my lashes clump free, smooth and with a clean volume.
It’s refreshing to see a mascara being right to the point; you get defined and long lashes and the formula doesn’t weigh them down. For me that’s especially important because I refuse to curl my lashes (the eye curler fear is real, you guys).
Also the fact that it stays put, but comes off like nothing when you need it to is very enjoyable. SNAPSCARA’s slogan is “on in a snap, off in a snap” and I’m pleased to say that I 100% agree with this statement! New favourite mascara – coming through!
Matte Metallics Lipstick
Although the name states “Matte Metallic“, I’ll have to disagree. Sure, it’s not a glitter bomb of metallic on your lips – but I’d rather call it a muted metallic. But that might not be such a good marketing term ;-)
The colour is stunning. It’s a perfect dusty rose for me, and the little metallic particles give a subtle golden sheen to the final result. They’re very creamy to apply and I’ve read somewhere that normally they should dry down, but mine didn’t. No biggie for me, since regular matte lipsticks dry out my lips. While this Platinum Rose does a great job of keeping my lips creamy and soft!
They don’t survive a meal – but to be truthful I haven’t encountered a whole lot of lipsticks who do. And I also don’t really mind re-applying after a meal. I’d rather have a fresh new coat of lipstick than one that slowly comes apart on my lips.
So what do you think about my Maybelline Countdown look? What make-up look are you wearing for New Year’s Eve?
