Two weeks ago I went to an event by Biotherm to introduce the new Life Plankton Sensitive Emulsion. I was excited to discover this product would possibly have the power to change my sensitive skin to become less reactive and armed against all the outside factors like the weather and pollution. Great skin, here I come!
Biotherm’s website states that 9 out of 10 women noticed their skin transformed after one week of using Life Plankton. During the event we were challenged to use Life Plankton for a whole week, take pictures and check if there’s any noticeable difference.
And since I’m always up for a challenge, I’ve taken before and after pictures and reviewed the Life Plankton Sensitive Emulsion for you. You ready to see if my skin gained any superpowers? ;)
Key Ingredient: Life Plankton
The new Life Plankton is a hydrating creamy fluid that helps with soothing the skin, making it less sensitive over time and reinforcing the skin. For instance things like dryness, redness, tightness and itchiness (that’s a lot of -ness, isn’t it? Lol.) will be relieved. Sounds great, doesn’t it? ;) The product comes in a glass bottle with a pump. I actually like this sort of packaging the most because it’s the most hygienic.
I’m not going all scientific on you with the plankton ingredient, god knows I’m not scientifically gifted nor qualified for that ;) But the point is that it has enormous restorative properties. The biologists of Biotherm have figured out a way to implement those properties into the new Life Plankton Sensitive Emulsion. It doesn’t contain any parabens, alcohol, colorants, mineral oils or fragrance. In every way, this product is ideal for (very) sensitive skin.
Like I’ve stated in the intro, we were challenged. To a duel? Perhaps ;) But all jokes aside, we were challenged to use the Life Plankton for a full week and take pictures so we could check our results – so that’s what I did. But let me tell you a little bit about my skin first:
Before Biotherm Life Plankton
I have a sensitive and combination skin. For the combination part, I’m a classic: greasy T-zone and dry cheeks. But when I wash my face it usually turns red (#tomatoefaces, unite!) It definitely takes a while before the redness is gone and my skin settles down (see picture). My skin is quite reactive and has no problem turning red fast. My face is also not the same colour as my neck… It makes finding a really good foundation match a true treasure hunt, let me tell you. In short: there’s definitely room for improvement! ;)
After Biotherm Life Plankton
This is my face after using Life Plankton for almost two weeks, with two pumps in the morning and two in the evening. After the first week I started getting very small pimples so I decided to give my skin a little bit more adjusting time just to see if they would go away. I’m actually glad I gave it some more time to adjust because the pimples are practically gone now :) Aside from the extra adjusting time, let’s look at the results:
On the first set of pictures you can see my face turns red all over after I wash it. Forehead, cheeks, chin, my nose… Nothing gets spared. When we look at the second set of pictures you can clearly see my face isn’t as red anymore. Sure, I’m still slightly red on my forehead, cheeks, chin and my nose – remember I do have a sensitive and reactive skin (thanks genetics!) But after Life Plankton it’s way less intense and with a smaller area of irritation. While at first my whole forehead was irritated, it’s now only focused on a small area in the middle. So we can conclude it definitely works in terms of the reinforcement of the skin!
As for hydration, I’m pretty happy. My cheeks feel adequately moisturised, but since I have a combination skin I feel like this creamy fluid can get a little rich for my T-zone. No biggie though. I just make sure I apply a little bit less product in that area :) In general my face feels very soft, doesn’t experience any tugging and doesn’t feel dry so I’m a happy girl.
In conclusion I’m really pleased with the results! I had noticed some improvements in the mirror, but it’s always nice when you can compare afterwards with photo’s and realise it’s even better :)
We weren’t just introduced to the newest product of Biotherm! As part of the event and the #sensitivecanbestrong campaign, we were invited to a sweaty workout. You could chose boxing or bodytec – well bodytec was something else, let me tell you! I had already done some boxing in the past and the concept of bodytec was something I had never done or seen before. The fact you would get electrical shocks during your workout made me so curious, so I choose for the “shocking experience” ;)
During the workout you wear clothing that is designed to really distribute the electrical impulses over your body, plus a jacket that’s linked to electrodes on your arms, legs and your butt. The way I was wired up, I was certain I would have a Kim K booty after the workout, haha! ;)
Work It: The Bodytec Workout
The workout lasted for 20-30 minutes while your muscles are stimulated on a low frequency. Because of the electricity you jumpstart your metabolism, tighten your skin and stimulate muscle growth. The workout is supposed to be more intense, so you’d have the previously mentioned effects quicker than with a regular workout. We’ve done jumping jacks, planking, squats, mountain climbers, burpees, … You name it. It was mostly a HIIT workout (for those of you that are not familiar with it, click here) so I was already used to the exercises. I really enjoyed the workout and was happy I had the opportunity to discover it with Biotherm! I was also very pleased to see that the day after my digital weight scale showed my muscle percentage had gone up by 0.4%, which is great!
Thank you Biotherm and Luxe PR for the fantastic day!
