Blogs are launched every. single. day. For a new blogger this might be scary and a little help is always welcome. So after two years of blogging, I figured I could give some blogging tips of my own!
Below I’ve listed 7 blogging tips. These are in no way guidelines, these are just based on my own experiences! :)
7 Blogging Tips For New Bloggers:
Find your writing voice.
I’m starting off with something that will become very important for your blog: finding your own writing voice. It’s important you find a style that works for you and is the embodiment of your personality. I’m a very bubbly and chatty person in real life, so my writing style is informative but most of all fun and easy to read! My words usually flow right from my mind and that’s how I put them on paper – or rather type them ;) Pick your kind of language: both in actual language and style.
Although I’m a Belgian blogger, I chose to write in English. Why? Because I feel I can express myself better in English! I also chose not to put in any curse words so all ages can read this blog. Because honestly, something that is “f-ing amazing” can always be described with a much richer vocabulary ;)
Read. A LOT.
You will not only enrich your vocabulary, you will learn a lot from it too. You will start noticing what you like and don’t like and you’ll start creating a vision in your head of how you want your own blog to be (remember that writing voice?) Reading – whatever material – can be helpful and inspire you for a new blogpost.
And don’t restrict yourself to just reading blogs – read a book ABOUT blogging! I can definitely recommend “How Blogs Work” by Stephanie Duval. Up until now that’s the only book I’ve read about blogging and I feel that gave me enough guidance and insights to further work it out on my own. Always be interested in this topic, to learn more and grow. Actually, when I was younger I used to devour books! Books inspired me to write my own short stories (yes I did that!) and later on when I started reading blogs, they motivated me to start my own.

Be an active blogger.
You’ll want to be present and active on your platforms. That means both your blog and your social media! On your blog, try to stay consistent. The most important thing is to have a schedule that works for you and try to stick to it. That way people will start to know when they can expect a new post and will return to your blog on a regular basis.
Also, if you’re being active on social media you might just make a blogger friend or two! Or you know – 10. We’re quite the social butterflies ;) You can even host a bloggers date and share blogging tips with each other.
Do your research.
It’s always nice that you can back up the things you say in your blogposts. Whenever I’m writing a new one I try to do some research about the topic, to see if I can include any interesting and additional information. Readers appreciate this!
Have patience & work hard.
Nothing will be thrown in your lap, but if you’re willing to work hard you will be rewarded! Have patience – building an audience and fans is not always as easy as it looks like. It takes time to be noticed and all of these blogging tips will help you with that. If you write quality content and put yourself and your blog out there, things will start to speed up!
By far the most important of these blogging tips: keep having fun with your blog. Experiment, share, laugh! This is your own little space in the World Wide Web and it should always remain a pleasure to write. Even when you plan on going pro with your blog, you should still be able to enjoy the work you’re putting into it. One of my favourite quotes is “If you love what you do, you won’t have to work a day in your life” and that should also resonate with your blogging.
HAPPY BLOGGING! <3
