If you’re a regular reader of my week in Instagram Photos, I’m pretty sure you’ve noticed that I love to go to the gym. Starting a healthier lifestyle has definitely made some changes in my life, body and mind. For those who would like to know, I’m currently following Kayla Itsines’ Bikini Body Guide and her H.E.L.P nutrition guide. I’ve finished 4 weeks of pre-training and I’ve just started with the official week 1 of #BBG! :-)

Today I’m sharing my 10 reasons why I love working out and a healthier lifestyle, and I hope they can motivate and inspire you!

It gives me energy.

I’m often described as a very energetic person. I always try to put my whole heart in the things I do, which is taken the wrong way sometimes. I’m just a very enthusiastic girl and use that to my advantage! ;-) I usually work out after breakfast. I feel that when I can lose some of that extra morning energy in a good workout, I’m rewarded with a positive and better kind of energy!

It boosts my confidence.

Nothing is more fun than seeing results and noticing you love that hard-working body of yours! Please love everything that you are. Your body & mind are amazing and it can do some pretty awesome stuff. Realise that, and you’ll feel your confidence grow. Pinky promise!

I sleep better.

It’s obvious that when you’re very active during the day, you’ll be more tired in the evening. As I’ve mentioned above, I’m quite energetic and that has affected my rest for quite a bit. I had a hard time falling asleep, because my mind just kept on going. Being more active has definitely helped with that since I now fall asleep within 5 to 10 minutes!

It gets my skin glowing.

I don’t know about you, but when I finish one of Kayla Itsines’ workouts… Boy, I’m sweaty! This is also one one the reasons why I love to work out: glowy skin! Your skin benefits hugely from a good sweat session, as it promotes blood flow and carries away cellular waste. That’s a little detox for your skin rrright there! I also have the impression my skin is softer, or maybe that’s just me? ;-)

It helps to reduce my stress.

As the energetic human being that I am, I also experience some stress from time to time. Working out has taught me to be more patient and mostly put my thoughts to a full stop. I can easily forget about everything else while I work out. I’m so concentrated on the exercise I can’t think of anything else! And honestly, giving my head some rest sometimes feels like the best thing ever.

PS: Your brain also produces a substance to protect your body from an “acute stress-situation” (your workout), so it’s a no-brainer (pun intented) that you’ll feel less stressed after a workout. No worries and keep calm. Your brain’s got your back! ;-)

I feel better in my clothes.

Another obvious consequence of working out is that you’ll get leaner and more fit. This results in fitting better in your clothes! But remember: numbers aren’t everything. It’s more about the way you feel in your clothes: confident!

It makes me feel accomplished.

Do you also feel so much better after a workout? Sure, after a workout I pretty much have to drag myself into the lockerroom. But afterwards I feel so good! You heard of the runner’s high phenomenon before, right? Well, mine kicks in right after I start my 3rd circuit of 7 minutes (basically when I’ve done 3/4 of my workout). And guess what? It’s the most amazing thing! And what’s even better? The satisfaction you feel because you’ve completed another succesful workout and you kicked some butt today! Whoo, endorphines!

It lifts my mood and strengthens my spirit.

I can definitely be described as a morning person. For me, everything starts in the morning. By the time I’m out of bed, I’m fully awake and ready! I always put on some up-beat music in the bathroom when I’m getting ready. I’m always happy I can go to the gym! And when I leave the gym, my good mood lasts me throughout the day.

It keeps me motivated (and for other things too).

Working out has made me think different. I know that if I push myself a little harder, I can accomplish much more things and that just gets me crazy motivated! You’re putting your perseverance to work at the gym, so why not put in some more effort for other things too? Go get ‘em! ;-)

It’s good for you.

If you’ve read all the reasons above, you’ll notice that working out has had a pretty good affect on me. It’s healthy as long as you do not go overboard. Allow your body to get some rest too. Working out is good for your health and you’ll notice many things being affected by “just going to the gym to work out a little”. You’ll turn into a stronger human being, physically and mentally :-) And it just makes me feel good, you know?

    Door te sporten, heb ik niet alleen meer energie, maar ben ik ook veel gemotiveerder. Dat komt mijn lichaam, geluk én projecten ten goede :) Zalig wat voor effecten sporten allemaal heeft!

      En dan te denken dat ik vroeger niet stond te springen als het over sport ging… Wat een verschil! Zou het iedereen aanraden om te sporten! Komt inderdaad vanalles ten goede!:D

    100% akkoord girl! Ik hou ook zo van sporten, al van jongsafaan deed ik het gewoon oprecht graag, om alle redenen die jij opsomt, maar ook gewoon uit liefde voor sport :D Ik volleybal al zowat m’n hele leven en Kayla bevalt me ook heel erg goed, plus fietsen als een gek is ook een van m’n hobby’s! (Hollands bloed hehe). Fijn te lezen dat jij ook zo gemotiveerd bent! You go chickaaa!

      Ooh, ik deed het niet zo graag vroeger :D Ik heb veel verschillende sporten geprobeerd, maar fitness is tot nu toe het enigste wat ik goed vol kan houden. Je hebt ook wel sneller resultaat dan dat je pakweg gaat lopen of fietsen! Maar nu sport ik echt graag en ik kijk elke keer weer uit naar mijn Kayla workout, ook al weet ik dat je me achteraf soms van de grond kunt schrapen, haha! Thank god voor “the runners high”!
